Marudharrasiyafolk offers one of the leading Kalbeliya Dance groups for weddings, corporate shows, festivals, and other special events. Kalbeliya is one of the most popular and exciting dance forms of Rajasthan and is always placed among the top Rajasthani folk dances.
This dance showcases the lifestyle of snake charmers and how they traditionally catch snakes. The dancers move gracefully with flexible body movements that resemble the motion of a snake. These captivating movements create a unique and entertaining performance that keeps audiences engaged and fascinated.
Kalbeliya – The Art of the Gypsy Community
Kalbeliya Dance is traditionally performed by the Kalbeliya community of Rajasthan, a gypsy tribe whose traditional occupation was catching snakes. In Hindi, snakes are also referred to as “Kaal.” Members of this community would capture snakes and charm them using the sound of traditional musical instruments such as the been (snake charmer’s flute).
Traditional Dress and Performance
Kalbeliya dance performances are highly captivating. Female dancers perform in distinctive black traditional outfits decorated with colorful embroidery and mirror work. They also wear beautiful handmade jewelry on their head, ears, neck, and hands, which enhances the beauty of the performance.
Talking about its history, after 1980 the Marudharrasiyafolk tribe began performing alongside the Kalbeliya dancers as musicians. Their artists play traditional musical instruments in the background, adding rhythm and energy to the dance performances.
Since then, Marudharrasiyafolk musicians and Kalbeliya dancers have been performing together to entertain audiences with a vibrant combination of dance and music. Today, Kalbeliya dance is widely performed at weddings, festivals, corporate events, parties, and cultural shows.
Blending tradition with innovation, we create unforgettable cultural experiences that deliver excellence and lasting impact.
